Sydney meetings
The main meetings of the Society take place in Sydney on the third Saturday of every second month from February – October, starting at 2:00 p.m.
Unless otherwise indicated, meetings are held in the meeting room of the Uniting Church Hall, 7 Lord Street, Roseville NSW. The Church is a 2-minute walk from Roseville Railway Station. Parking is available in the free car park directly across the street, or in adjacent streets.
The meeting cost of $5.00 p.p. (members and visitors alike) covers hall rental, afternoon tea and expenses incurred by and for guest speakers. There is no need to make a booking, and non-members are welcome.
Meetings begin with general business matters, followed by a presentation of about one hour’s duration. The presentations, from Jane Austen scholars, guests and Society members, are of a high and often challenging standard, covering a wide range of topics of interest in the world of Jane Austen. An opportunity for questions concludes the formal part of the meeting.
Afternoon tea provides an opportunity for attendees to mix and mingle, as well as browse the JASA Library, and shop at the Regency Fair. Office holders in particular and members in general are happy to respond to any questions guest attendees might want to discuss and to introduce them to other members.
Since 2020, the speakers at many of the Sydney meetings have been recorded, and may be viewed online.
