Zoom: Janine Barchas – The Lost Books of Jane Austen
You will no doubt have heard that the current lockdown in Sydney has been extended by a further four weeks. Sadly, this means that we will be unable to hold our August meeting as planned.
This meeting was to have the wonderful Ruth Wilson speaking about her magnificent PhD thesis entitled ‘Milestones in a Reading Life: Jane Austen and Lessons in Reading, Learning, and the Imagination’. We know that everyone was looking forward to Ruth’s talk, but it is not to be this year. We have scheduled Ruth’s talk for next year when hopefully the situation in Sydney will have improved.
Although our August meeting is unable to go ahead in the hall at Roseville, we do have some exciting news to share with you. Our meeting has moved to Zoom and Janine Barchas, a fabulous Jane Austen scholar, has agreed to do an illustrated talk about her book The Lost Books of Jane Austen, possibly one of the best pieces of work about Jane Austen in recent years, and which has been highly praised. Janine will answer some questions that people can post in the chat section.
We are so fortunate that we can provide this wonderful event for our JASA members and we are very much looking forward to it. Make sure you join us online.
